In the summer of 2025 we enacted Romeo and Juliet in an abandoned quarry using old vehicles as characters. Mercutio was an excavator and Tybalt was equipped with a hydraulic hammer.
Romeo was a rally-truck, while Juliet a fine red 4x4 pickup truck. Two households, the Motorettis and Carburettis, from ancient grudge broke to new mutiny at the perilous time of the European Green Deal.
15 big vehicles, 5 companies and nearly 40 people participated in Kinoteater’s summer production where cars fell in love, fought and revenged on a hectare-sized stage for 5 performances. Oh, and Channel 4 picked this up, among others.
